Milling
Using a variety of tools in the machines spindle, the tools are rotated at up to 10,000 Rpm and follow a pre-programmed toolpath. This toolpath determines where and how the material is removed to create a wide range of features from flat faces and drilled holes to generating angles and boring bearing surfaces. The mill can machine a wide range of material from plastic and aluminium to all types of steels.

Turning
Instead of turning tools, the lathe turns the part itself. The machine spins the part and uses stationary cutting tools that follow a programmed toolpath to remove material. The one exception to this is the function of “live tooling”. This function combines both milling and turning to create features like drilled holes and machined flats on components without having to perform extra operations in another machine.
